What Score Do You Need to Pass the Citizenship Test?
9 February 2026
Short answer: 75%. Complete answer: 75%, and a second requirement that trips up more people than the percentage does.
Requirement 1: 75% Overall
You need at least 15 out of 20 questions correct, that's 75%. This is the number most people already know going in.
Requirement 2: All 5 Values Questions Correct
Separately from your overall percentage, you must answer all 5 Australian Values questions correctly. This isn't averaged into your score, it's a standalone pass/fail condition. Miss one values question and you don't pass, even with a 95% result overall.
Both, Not Either
The two requirements are independent, and you need to clear both. A 90% score with one wrong values answer fails. A perfect 5/5 on values with only 70% overall also fails. This exact combination is what our deeper look at the pass mark rule covers in more detail, and what our dedicated Australian Values Guide is written to help you avoid.
See Where You'd Land Right Now
The only reliable way to know if you'd currently pass is to sit a test under the same conditions. Our mock test applies this exact two-part rule, 75% overall plus all 5 values correct, so your result tells you the truth, not just a rough percentage.
